STRUCTURAL FACADE
This system uses structural silicone to fix the glass panels to their supporting structure, making it the best suited for seismic risk zones.
In some cases only two of the glass panel’s edges are attached with silicone while the other two are mechanically anchored. When all four edges are fixed using silicone, the glass panel floats in respect to its supporting structure and therefore does not have to cope with any stresses suffered by this substructure or the main building frame.
An additional benefit of this system is that the substructure lays hidden behind the glass panels and a greater degree of seamlessness is achieved, resulting in an apparently continuous reflective glass surface.
