NO STRUCTURAL FACADE
The glass panels can be supported by a mechanical system or they simply rest on profiles, leaving those supporting means or grid exposed in both cases. This system is not adequate when a degree of seismic resistance is required.
In terms of architectural composition the façade is characterised by a grid of vertical and horizontal lines defined by the structure used to support the glass in place. Variety in the rhythm of the façade can be obtained by playing with different depths, colours, and dimensions for the chosen profiles on the grid.
Another way of aesthetically adapting the aspect of the façade is to emphasise the vertical lines of a grid over the horizontal ones or the other way around. If the horizontal profiles are made predominant by giving them a larger section or using them in a larger number while trying to achieve a degree of seamlessness in the visual impact of the vertical profiles, the resulting façade will reflect a horizontally fragmented image which portrays a more dynamic visual aesthetic.
On the other hand, if the vertical profiles are the ones made prominent, the visual effect obtained for the building will be that of slenderness.
